Hi there,
Currently I have to set one of my teammates as the "Project Lead" of my project so that I can put him as the "default assignee" of my project tickets. Is there a way to keep myself as the Project Lead but set my teammate as the "default assignee"?
Regards,
Sharon
Hi @Oi Lam Wong For setting a default assignee other than project lead, you need to apply POST FUNCTION in project workflow for Create transition.
Or you can create Component/s and set Teammate as Component lead and set Default Assignee Component/s Lead. In this case, Teammate set as Default case. But in this user need to select that Component/s then only Default assignee set.
First option is good for your scenario.

Thanks Vikrant! Unfortunately I'm not the JIRA admin (even I'm the project admin and creator) and so this solution doesn't work for me.
I can't see the option to create Component/s Lead. Not sure if it's available for JIRA admin only.
Thanks so much for your suggestion!
Regards,
Sharon

Hi @Oi Lam Wong I think you are using Team Managed project that’s why not getting option to create Components, kindly create project automation in this case as suggested by @Bhanu Or you can add rule (Assign an Issue ) on workflow Create transition.
Thanks

Best Aproach Is to Use post function of workflow scheme work absolutely fine for me
Note : user i want to assign was not Project Lead And No Special Project Role Assigned just Created new Workflow for my project and added create post function Update Field > Assignee > desired user

You can also use Automation for jira to set the assignee once the ticket is created.
Automation Rule:
1. Issue Created
2. Edit Issue
- Edit Assignee and set the assignee to the desired user.
