How to setup Approval Steps that log the approver ID, Date and Time.

Using JIRA in an environment that requires proof of an operational sequence along with signatures for approvals.   I am interested in finding a way to do this in JIRA, rather than an offline system.   Is there a way to set up approval steps, that capture the date time and authentication of the approver?
