Hi,

I created a template for an epic, which consists of multiple stories and subtasks.

I would like to add a variable in the epic description like "%customer name% Migration" (which will be used in the stories and subtasks as well). Such that during or after creating an epic with my template I only have to fill in the customer name once and it will be replaced in each story or subtask that is connected to the new epic that has "%customer name%" written in its description.

Is this possible?

Kind regards

Daniel Matthey

The only way I could see to do this using 'out of box' functionality would be to have a custom field for each variable, and then use something like Automation rules to stitch it all together on create.

There are several plugins out there that would also allow you to do this; we use [this one|https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211044/issue-templates-for-jira?hosting=server&tab=overview] which gives us what we need.

Hi Haddon Fisher, thank you very much for that quick advice. I already expected, that a custom field would be necessary.

I will have a look at your plugin - thanks a lot!
