Hi,

I have a custom field that I want to restrict to a specific user so that specific user can only fill that particular custom field while creating a Jira story for rest of the user that field should be hide from the create screen.

Thank you,

Hello @Ashish Bijlwan ,

In order to get that to work, you would have to:

  1. Remove the field from the Create/Edit screens altogether
  2. Create a screen with just the custom field(s) you want restricted
  3. Add that screen to a Transition in a Workflow
  4. Add a Condition to that specific Transition so that only the user or group or some other attribute can see the transition

If the field update shouldn't be done at the time of transition, you can leverage the "Any Status" to "Itself"

Hello @Ashish Bijlwan

You achieve this task you can use field level security.

Refer to this link: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-1330

If you are looking for alternate route there are some plugins you can use like Secure Custom Fields - Security & Permission - for Jira

Hope this helps.

Hitesh.
