I started learning product design three weeks ago, and since then I have been exploring design sites. Today I came across Jira, and to be honest, I have no actual idea of what it is about. I do not know what I have to do to get points, or whether or not I can design on Jira. Anyone, who sees this question should please give me a list of things I can do on Jira. And please do well to answer all my question.

Hi there @Sophia Okeke ,

On top of what @Evgenii said, I would recommend going through Atlassian University resources such as Get the most out of Jira to get onboarded with the tool.

Even though Jira itself is not a designing tool, you can, for example, track design-related tasks there, connect designing tools with Jira (such as Figma) and some other similar things.

Additionally, Jira comes with project templates where one template category is "Design" and with it, you could learn more about how design teams can use this tool.

Hi, @Sophia Okeke

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Jira is a project management and issue-tracking tool developed by Atlassian. It helps teams plan, track, and manage tasks and projects. While you can't create design work directly in Jira, you can use it to:

  • Organize Design Tasks: Create and assign tasks related to your design projects.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Share updates, attach design files, and communicate within tasks.
  • Track Progress: Monitor the status of tasks from start to completion.
