I cannot get issues to show on a Kanban board for company managed projects

Sel November 1, 2021

Hi

I have tried everything to get issues to show up on the kanban board for a company managed project.  For all other combinations Kanban - Team Managed, SCRUM -Team and Company managed, issues show up.  In the Kanban (Team) they show up as soon as you create them. For SCRUM (Team and Company) they show up as soon as you create and start the sprint.

It's so frustrating.  It must be a bug???  Please someone offer me an explanation as to what is going on???

Hi @Sel

Some things to check for this symptom for a company-managed project Kanban board:

  1. What is your board filter?  If you use that filter stand-alone in advanced issue search, does it return what you expect?
  2. Is there a Kanban sub-filter set (at the bottom of board settings/general)?  If so and you remove it, what happens?
  3. What do your status mappings look like for the board columns?  Are there any unmapped?

Kind regards,
Bill

@Stefan Salzl @Bill Sheboy Thank you both for replying,

Here is an image of the board

No filters have been applied.  as you can see there are two issues in the backlog but they just won't show

I tried the same thing on the Scrum board and it works perfectly.

There is no menu option on the left for Backlog??

Thanks

HI @Sel ,

Could you please provide a screenshot of the board menu item "General"?

That seems curious...Two more things to check:

Please check and post an image of your workflow to see about that status which is not used.

Please try creating a new board in the project directly from the filter, and see if it displays the issues.

Hi @Sel

found that article:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/jira-software-kanban-board-does-not-show-all-issues-779158700.html

The pre-defined (default by JIRA) sub-filter sometimes causes problems. See the detailed description and workaround in the above mentioned article.

Hope we can solve your problem with that workaround and looking forward to your answer.

Hi @Sel ,
Have you tried to unmap the status "To Do" from your board?

This status is apparently not used in your workflow.

@Stefan Salzl The article was key and examining the issues page and looking at the query.  A altered to see if it would still list all the queries

jira-board-issues-query.png

And all the issues still show.  In the article it says to use the following query

fixVersion in unreleasedVersions() OR fixVersion is EMPTY OR (project = MyProject AND type = 'Sub-task')

Obvioiusly changing the project name.  This still failed.  So altered the query to

jira-board-sub-filter.png

The same as what I used in the query for the issues.

Crazy or what but it now works

Really appreciate your help guys.  That was nuts!!!

Hi @Sel ,

AAAAWWWEEESOME!!! So glad it works now.

It was my pleasure :) Thanks for your great and detailled information.

Happy working with your working board. (Makes a lot of things easier when issues appear where they should =D )

Hi @Sel ,
Are you using the Kanban-Backlog (Backlog appears as separate menu item on the left) or the Backlog column in the board?

In the first option newly created issues doesn´t show up in the board directly as they are created in the backlog (which in this case is not a column of the board but separated).

You could check/change this as follows:

- open your board
- open the board settings
- choose settings item "columns"
