I couldn't import the EPICs in JIRA. JIRA created as stories by default. Pls help.

JIRA creates as stories when I import the EPICS using the Import Issues from CSV.

i never really tried this. While I think it should be possible I can't say for sure. Here are my suggestion FWIW..

  1. check to understand any required fields when creating epics and ensure that you CSV covers them all (Epic Name, etc)
  2. does the importer ask for mapping to the issue type?
  3. consider importing as stories and then simply doing a bulk move to epic. to ensure you can differentiate "epic-stories" from actual Stories add a label during the import.

good luck

I included the epic name and mandatory fields. But, the importer didn’t show the Issue Type.

I will try the 3rd point.

Thanks Jack !

Hi @Thenmozhi Ethayaraja

What does your CSV look like? Do you include a field for issueType?

If not specified in your CSV file, imported issues will be given the default (i.e. first) Issue Type as specified in your Jira site.

Yes, I included the Issue Type and the value as Epic.
