I'm looking for a report that displays the hours logged against tasks, along with a description of the work logged.

You will need an addon to achieve that.

There's a cheap addon we use that I recommend for this:

It allows to export the worklogs with worklog comments to an Excel sheet.

We do have this add on already integrated on our Jira. But I can't seem to find how can I show the work description for each worklog.

Generate a report from this page:

https://YOURS.atlassian.net/plugins/servlet/ac/timereports/timereports

where YOURS is the subdomain of your JIRA instance.

After that, click on this small icon > .xls:

export.jpg

The resulting Excel sheet will contain the work descriptions.
