I need to automate the Epic workflow based on the child issue statuses?

Hi,

I have Epic workflow and deferent workflow for Story and Task. So based on story/task workflow epic status should be updated accordingly. the workflow for Epic and story/task are not same. 

is this automation possible?

Yes this automation is certainly possible! If the workflows are on the same project and the workflow status's match / or are similar, you can do the following automation as described by Atlassian below:
