I'm in Jira under a Project that is named and displayed under "Projects". I need to post documents in an existing project folder. When I select the "Issues" folder that I need to place these documents within, it displays all the issues that currently exist. I need to add my documents to show under this "Issues" selection. How do I add these documents? Also, is there a link I can copy that I can provide the team members with whom I need to share these documents? How/where am I able to do that? Your help is appreciated in advance. Last, I don't know if this is a cloud based or on premises based Jira instance. TY, Ernie. PS...I used Jira years ago but format has changed.
Hi @Ernie Hassell,
Jira does not have a "Documents" section for the projects. You can attach the files as attachments to issues and there are no folders.
If you want to store documents at the project level, you will need a Jira plugin from Atlassian Marketplace.
In case you take into consideration the idea of using a plugin, our Documents plugin can an ideal solution for storing project-related documents in a organized way in Jira. It also allows you to organize the files into folders.
It adds a "Documents" section to each project. Here you can upload documents, put them in folders, it keeps the version tracking, etc
Danut.
Hello @Ernie Hassell
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
To store documents and other files in Jira you will need to create Issues and add those documents/files as Attachments on the issues.
To share those issues with teammates, provide them with a link to the issue to which you have attached the files.
One way you can determine if your Jira instance is self-hosted or Cloud is to click on the Help button and select About Jira. This is an example from a self-hosted system.
A version number that looks like this is an example of a self-hosted system.
