Hi I am new to using Jira and not as familiar with the native dashboards or popular add-on gadgets. Because of this I wanted to ask around if anyone has used Jira native dashboard, which has some limitations from my understanding, or can recommend a good dashboard add-on / gadget that is easy to use and lets me generate visual, executive-friendly dashboards of the count and status of Jira initiatives, epics and story point counts from cross multiple Jira projects and team boards. I am using epics as "PI objectives" for each team (we are leveraging some of the concepts from SAFe) and I want to be able to generate dashboard reports showing:
1) Count of epics (aka PI objectives) by each team, where each team has their own Jira project/board
2) Status of epics (e.g., new, in progress, done) by team for the current PI (aka quarter)
3) Disposition of epics at the end of the PI (aka quarter) (e.g., completed, carried over, cancelled, on hold)
I would also appreciate layout design ideas for this type of information (e.g., table, stacked bar chart, pie/donut chart, etc.)
Thanks!
Hi @David Chang ,
My first advice is to take a deep dive into JIRA Plans.
After that, I suggest trying the app I developed - Multi-team Scrum Metrics & Retrospective. With it, you can do everything you outlined, but you will need to put your epics into sprints (if you need a help with that - you can contact me via email or this portal). Additionally, you will be able to:
Generate retro reports for SAFe, LeSS, SoS, etc. teams to:
Here is the standard view of it (in the view (including in the tables, bars, etc.) you will get epics instead of all other issue-types - it can be configured):
Here is summary of metrics:

Hi @David Chang,
I’m Javier Coira, a developer for Dashboard Hub. The suggestions you’ve already received are great, but when I saw that you wanted to track data related to epics, I was inspired to set up an example using some gadgets from Dashboard Hub Pro (although the same can be done with Dashboard Hub for Confluence).
To track epics, my recommendation is to use Progress Tracker (which, by the way, was previously called Epic Progress). This gadget allows you to see the status and progress of epics using a filter or JQL.
For performing calculations, I recommend using Formula Cards, which lets you define variables based on JQLs or filters and then use these variables in simple (or more complex, depending on your needs) formulas.
I believe the best way to understand this is to see it in action, so I’m sharing a link to the sample dashboard I configured for your question (sharing dashboards is another highly valued feature of Dashboard Hub).
Best regards!

Hello, @David Chang, and welcome to the Atlassian Community! Hope you’re off to a good start.
It looks as though a few have already addressed the topic of native Jira gadgets and covered it quite well.
Wanted to offer another option of plugins, that being our own Agile Hive, which we refer to as the “SAFe in Jira” solution. We offer both Cloud and DC versions. I’ve included a few screenshots from our Jira Cloud version.
In regards to epics (PI Objectives), and every other metric you’d be looking to monitor throughout the course of your PIs, our ART Reports offer a great deal on insights at a glance (PI Progress, Load vs. Capacity, Depedencies, Burnup Charts, PI Objectives and Risks, etc.).
1) ART Reports
Everyone including RTEs and PMs at the ART level, down to the individual teams and team members themselves, can monitor progress as the PI moves along.
2) Overview (with the ability to drill down into each issue)
3) PI Objectives and Risks
At then end of each PI, using those same reports to look back on what was, and wasn’t, accomplished, what needs to be carried over, the resulting dependencies, whatever you’d need to assess and transition to your next PI.
Feel free to take a look at our Marketplace listing, you can try it for 30 days. If you have any questions, need additional insights, or want to schedule a live demonstration, feel free to reach out.
Best regards,
Joshua

Hi @David Chang
Others have already given you great suggestions. Jira gadgets and reports tend to be limited to a single Project overview. That is where Jira Plans could come in and give you some overview - https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/what-is-advanced-roadmaps/.
I work at eazyBI, and the eazyBI for Jira app could be another approach to meet your requirements. It is great for reporting and analysis and can publish the reports in Jira dashboards - https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211051/eazybi-reports-and-charts-for-jira?tab=overview&hosting=cloud.
As a start, you can view some of our Demo account reports and dashboards to view its capabilities. For example, to view Epic's progress, see the following report - https://eazybi.com/accounts/1000/cubes/Issues/reports/78204-issue-epic-gantt-chart. You can interact with the reports and view them in eazyBI dashboards - https://eazybi.com/accounts/1000/dashboards/16201-forecast-and-management.
I hope you will find what you are looking for.
Kind regards,
Roberts // support@eazybi.com

Hi @David Chang,
Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Jira offers some native gadgets that can be useful for you. You could try:
1. Filter results gadget - to display the number of epics per team
2. Two Dimensional Filter Statistics gadget - to display the number of epics in each status by team
3. Filter Results gadget - to list the epics along with their team, status. etc
If these gadgets are not enough, you will need a to search for a plugin that offers the gadget you need.
In case you want to try a plugin, our Great Gadgets apps offers all you need for tracking your epics / PI objectives efficiently. Very helpful would be the Pivot Table & Pivot Chart gadget that our app offers. By using this gadget you can create multi-dimensional tables and charts.
See some examples of how you could track the epics.
1. Count of epics per team
2. Epics Completion split by team
3. Disposition of Epics
The app offers many other gadgets for tracking PI and epics.
These articles can be of great help you:

Hi, @
Welcome to the community!
You are right, Jira OOTB gadgets are a bit limited. If you are looking for a tool which is easy to use and allows you to create custom dashboards, I recommend Mindpro Insights. I work at Mindpro and I believe this app can cover most of your requirements.
You can easily create dashboards from templates and there are over 50+ gadgets (pre-loaded or custom) you can select from. The dashboards are interactive, it means you can drill down the data by clicking on a chart segment, so the entire dashboard adapts to this selection.
There are different ways to filter epics and the "Epic Progress" gadget can show you the epics, status and dates.
Here are some other examples of dashboards you can build:
The system also allows you to add custom gadgets in different formats (pie, donut, bar, line, table) so you can create dashboards as per your needs:
The dashboards are shareable with internal users or with customers via the Customer portal, so you can define who can see the information. The system also allows adding the custom gadgets to Jira Standard dashboards, if you prefer.
I hope that helps.
Regards,
Eduardo
