When creating an issue, we use a template for the description by using a custom field., called Description of bug. This basically includes a number of headings for people to use.
We can paste images to the custom field (it is a wiki style, same as Description field)
On Create, we have a Post function which copies the data to the Description. When we then open the bug, the Description is displayed, but any images show preview unavailable (attachments are present). This isn't too much of a problem for a single image, but for multiple images it isn't clear which image should be in which position.
Is there a way to ensure images are copied between fields in this way? Or is there a better way to achieve what we are doing.
Hi @Trevor Mason, the post function should copy the field value normally, including attachments. I'm not sure if you're using templates from an App in this custom field or if it's a basic field with default values. I would suggest testing this using an automation rule, for example, to do the same and see if the attachments are copied over to the description field and showing normally.
You can create a rule to be triggered when a new bug is created and edit the description field to copy the value from the custom field, this is another way to dynamically copy field value upon issue creation, but it could be an issue with the attachments themselves if the same issue persists.
Thanks - works OK when using an Automation rule instead of just triggering a copy
