Importing a dump goes pretty slow

Deleted user October 18, 2012

Is there any way to speedup the import process in general? I am trying to import a 9G dump from Jira 4.1 to jira 4.4. This process is taking up more than 16 hrs (and only 65% has been done). I allocated 6G RAM for the heap size processor utilisation never spikes beyond 4%. I use postgresql 9.1 as a DB server.

Hi,

Is there any specific reason for using XML import for upgrading JIRA 4.1 -> JIRA 4.4 ? If you are not changing any of the following:

  • OS
  • database
  • location for index's and attachment(JIRA_HOME)

You can use the Upgrading JIRA Manually procedure which using the in-place-database upgrade method. Detail can be found at https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA044/Upgrading+JIRA+Manually
