I am trying to import issues into JIRA through a .CSV file, however I am not able to map the values to a field and the import dates do transfer in automatically. After the import, all issues are shown as created a minute ago.
Please help!
Do you have a column with the created date and are you specifying that in the import wizard? Also, you might want to make sure that the date format is the same as your system date format.
My problem is coming in two flavors.
1) If I try to upload a CSV from the issues page I am not given the option to map ceation date, though I still need to specify the format e.g. dd/MMM/yyyy hh:mm. I make sure to maintain the format of the system. When I complete the import like this, my issue is created with a minute ago in the field and not the actual date.
2) If I use the import wizard, I am able to map the fields directly to each other, however after "successfully" uploading the issues, they are nowhere to be found! I perform a search of all issues of all projects and they simply don't exist.
I have already wasted a half-day trying to get this to work.

2) When you do an import with the wizard, you get to choose a project to import the issues to. When it's doing the import there is a link to a log for the import, there you will see a lot of information and should find the errors that prevent the issues from being created. Sometimes it has to do with required fields that are not mapped (such as summary or reporter) and other times it can be formatting errors such as the encoding of the CSV file.

Thanks for this.
I tried two things and it seemed to work, I simplified the date setting to dd/MM/yy hh:mm. This resolved the immediate problem with the first issue.
Regarding issues being created but "not" in the second problem, I found that the issues were being created on page 4 of my issues backlog. My searches were not querying the correct criteria.
Thanks for your help.
