Importing issues from one Kanban board to another

Forgive me if this has been asked before....however I have an existing Kanban board with around 2,000+ issues.  I have a new Kanban board in which I'd like to import a small subset of those issues (likely around 100) filtered on the labels of those issues.  How can I go about achieving this?

 

I assume that any updates from the original Kanban board would be automatically reflected in the issues on the new Kanban board?

 

Also, would I be able to add my own issues in my new Kanban board? or would I be limited to only seeing the imported issues?

AJ,

If you are just looking for visibility into the tickets which already exist in the instance, you'll need to update your boards filter.

Basically, you'll want to modify the filter to include tickets from the first project with the specific label you are interested in.

Thanks Kian.  It looks like I'll need to get admin privileges before I can update the boards filter.  But for confirmation though, I should be able to simply see issues from the other instance?

 

Secondly, I have a confluence site setup in another instance from the JIRA board.  Am I also able to create a view in confluence to see all issues in the JIRA board in a seperate instance?

 

I watched the training videos, but I'm unable to see the issues when I search for them in the filter.

AJ,

When you say "other instance" are you referring to a separate Jira instance, or that separate Kanban board? If you just mean from the separate Kanban board, then yes, updating the filter should work. 

I'm losing you a little bit when you discuss Confluence. Confluence can use the Jira Issues Macro to display tickets from a Jira instance as long as the two instances are connected via an application link. Does that make sense?

No, it's actually 2 seperate instances.  For example, the URL of one starts with "https://jira.abcde..." while the other would be "https://jira.fghij...".  I assume that means they are seperate instances.

 

I can get the jira issues macro to display other tickets from other boards within the same instance, but not on kanban boards outside of that instance.  Just wondered if there was a workaroun or if it's expected.

AJ,

Jira cannot display tickets from multiple instances on a board. The only way to do something like this would be to use a tool of some sort to syncing tool to pull tickets from one instance into the other.

Some examples may include Exalate or Backbone. Both of these are paid apps.

For Confluence, you can get it to display tickets from multiple instances by setting up multiple application links.

Hello AJ, 

When you say different kanban boards, do you mean different projects? 
You can move (if both are in same instance) or export and import the issues into the project that the target kanban board is based on. though as of now I can not think of an way to dynamically update the issue list. 

For exporting you can use the option from search.

Hi Labani,

Yes, I believe I mean different projects.  As for determining if they are in the same "instance" though, how can I check that?  

 

Essentially, the reason I'm doing this is I want to be able to view another teams issues in my board while still being able to create my own individuals in my new board as well.
