In my Burndown chart, I am getting more story points than the actual one?

mhari.krishna March 21, 2024

Hi Team,

Burndown chart, I am getting more story points than the actual one? Actually, I have 30 story points in my project, but I am seeing 60-70 story points in the burndown report.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Hari

Hi @mhari.krishna

The burn-down chart is on a Board, and Boards can have more than one Project associated with them (in some cases).

As simple first checks...

  • Is this a Team-managed or Company-managed Project?
  • If Company-managed, what is the board's filter? Does it include more than one Project?

You could also check the list of issues on the burndown against your issues in the Project - which ones stand out as missing from the Project list?

Hi @mhari.krishna

I hope you are well.

Sometimes issues such as Epics or Initiatives are mistakenly assigned to a sprint. Maybe you can try to list all issues by using the following JQL and comparing it to what you have in the current sprint board.

Try this out:

project = "thenameofyourproject" and "Team[Team]" = thenameofyourteam and Sprint in openSprints()

:)
