Hey,
Are there any Time tracking Apps for MacOS and Windows that can be integrated with Jira Task-tracking?
Its important for us to see exactly how long we have worked on certain tickets to optimize our development process and I would to make Time tracking as intuitive and simple as possible for my team.
Appreciate any help.
Hi @Melf Clausen,
welcome to a community,
You have been asking about apps for MacOS or Windows. The solution is to install the internal app from Marketplace.
Or, as previously answered, you can use a build in app (the simple solution).
If you need more features like worklogs, various of reports, employee estimation and so on, you can try our resource planning app ActivityTimeline with time tracking feature.
We use Clockwork app for this goal. But honestly, it's not easy to get developers to log time...
So you can also consider automating time calculation. More information about it you can read in those articles:

There are a few apps which generate intuitive time tracking reports. If you search "work log reports" in the marketplace you can see a few of the options.
We put together an app called Agile Docs which generates rolled up time reports out of the box.
It opens up inside any project for quick access.

Hello @Melf Clausen ,
There are two approaches here that are vastly different from one another.
First, you can try to measure how much time each issue spent on each status and produce reports based on that. This is an easy solution and doesn't require any configuration. You can get such reports with marketplace apps.
The downside is accuracy. To use this solution, you need to make sure that your users keep issues in the correct status at all times. Other than that, it shouldn't affect their lives much. (You should also consider cases where someone works on more than one issue simultaneously).
Second, you can ask your users to manually log work onto issues. In this scenario, each user logs how many hours or minutes he/she spent while working on that specific issue. This will be more work for your users and they will probably resist if they are not used to logging work on issues but this alternative produces more accurate results, especially for cost calculation matters. I recommend this one if you can do it.
Since work is logged manually, you can't use this option for user performance monitoring. You can use it only for process performance monitoring or cost calculations. If you choose to go with this option, do not do or say anything that will cause your users to even "suspect" that their performance will be evaluated based on this data because then they will start entering worklogs that will make them look good and you won't be able to trust your data.
If you decide to go with manual worklog solution, you probably want to check TEMPO Timesheets app on Atlassian Marketplace. (We are not related). Jira already has built-in time tracking capabilities but they work only on a single issue. TEMPO Timesheets makes it east to get reports per user, per team, per project, per month, etc. This is the go-to app for timesheet solutions.
If you decide to go with measuring status times, our team at OBSS built Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira app for this exact need and more. It is available for Jira Server, Cloud, and Data Center.
Time in Status allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status and each assignee.
You can calculate averages and sums of those durations grouped by the issue fields you select. For example average resolution time per week, month, issuetype etc.

For a complete solution to track time spent on each issue or time between statuses or time spent by resources, you can try out our app
Agile Tools : Epic Tree, Links Tree, Time in Status & Worklogs
The app provides the following features.
1) Links/Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up of time estimates for hierarchy (up to 10 levels), based on your Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps/Issue Links parent child relationship.
2) Epic Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up of time estimates for standard Jira hierarchy. Epic -> User Story -> Subtask
3) Time in Status :- More than 7 types of Time in Status reports to track your issues.
4) Worklogs Report :- Track time spent by resources with multiple filters / category / grouping features
5) Timesheet :- View/Enter your time spent for multiple days
Thanks
Rahul

Hi,
Jira has a built in time tracking: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-time-tracking/
You also have many apps that extend this feature: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/categories/time-tracking
