We have created an asset DB within JIRA Service Management. The "Assets" tab appears on the JIRA Work Management options top menu - as shown,
How do we properly link an object/asset item created in the Asset schema into a JIRA Work Management task/issue record. Examples of each shown.
Hi @Andrew Taylor , this is a great question!
You can create custom fields in Jira that are for Assets objects. This allows you to use the field in any Jira project and you can filter which asset schemas, object types, and even filter specific objects (using AQL) to show up in the drop-down list on the custom field for a Jira issue.
The nice thing is you can also use contexts on the custom field so that the field can be shared between projects but show different results depending on the project (context).
Here's an article on setting that up. There's a lot of fancy things you can do with it, but hopefully this gets you started!
