Integrating to Jira's Test Management platform (xRay, Zephyr, qMetry etc.) to populate Test Cases

Nivedita Tripathi November 21, 2019

We are a platform to create Contact Center Test Cases and Execution platform. Our customers wish to integrate with us to auto-populate Test Cases in Jira for seamless Test Management. Based on my research, Jira is not a Test Management platform and additional plugin/add-on applications are required for Test Management in Jira.

Now when we plan to integrate with Jira to push our Test Cases, I am wondering if we should integrate with Jira or the Add-ons ?

Any help in this area would be appreciated!

Regards,

Niv

Hi @Nivedita Tripathi

It actually depends on what would you like to do with the test cases after you have imported them in Jira.

You can easily create an issue type "Test Cases" in your Jira instance and then import test cases into Jira.

However, in absence of any test management add-on, these test cases will have a normal Jira issue workflow as for any other Jira issue type.

The test management add-ons provide extra features related to test case management. If you need those features, then you need to use the test management add-on.

Thanks for your response Deepanshu!

Our situation is all the more complex and is not so straight forward.

We are an automation platform and our customers want to have the automated test cases exported from our platform to their Jira instance. But each customer could use a different plugin for Test Management. So the question arises, whether we should integrate with these plugins via customer's Jira instance authentication?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks & Regards,

Niv
