In JIRA, when I goto Administration -> Issues -> Custom Fields to view the list of custom fields, I see no Fields list on the page but am presented with a 'Internal server error' message.

Looking at Administration -> Issues -> Screens, and choosing the Configure option, I was able to determine that there were two fields with the same name. One is a system field and the other is a custom field of the same name. I believe this may be causing the issue.

Does anyone know how to change the name of a custom field without going to Administration -> Issues -> Custom Fields page (as this is what I am unable to access)

Thanks in advance

Hi,

I believe you can update cfname field in customfield table in your Jira database.

Changes to the Custom Field database table could require a restart of JIRA and performing a re-index (Administration -> Indexing).

Hi Aleksandr

Thanks for your feedback.

Would you also be able to provide any insights into the impact this may have to the existing JIRA issues that may already be using the field name that would be changed?
