Is it possible to add a new option to the Sidebar menu?

We would like to add a new field to tickets within certain projects to work in a similar way to the Component meu option in the side-bar menu. A field that we can specify the options that can be selected.

You can certainly create new fields! See a list of options for Company-managed Projects here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/custom-fields-types-in-company-managed-projects/

I'd say a field which is similar to Components would be "Select list (multiple choices)" - but also check out the "Checkboxes" field as an alternative.

Hi @Heather Millar

As @Ste Wright mentioned above new custom fields can be created and configured to certain projects alone.

but options of the field(s) can be maintained by Jira admin only. Just in case if you are looking for  a solution to manage those field(s) options by you/your team without having Jira admin permission then you can try out our plugin: Options Manager for Jira

which lets user(s) to manage field options by themselves.
