I am trying to automate the creation of a confluence page when a new fix version is created in JIRA. The confluence page will be our place to document release notes and tickets for that particular fix version release. It will have two boxes on it, one containing closed JIRA tickets for the fix version and the other box containing tickets that are still open on creation and later on we will add the release notes manually. Is this a possibility?
I found this post on the same topic. It provides a link to a feature request.
I also found this post in which @Alex Koxaras -Relational- suggests an alternate solution.
@[deleted] there is no out-of-the-box automation available for this use case. However, there are a couple of things you can do here -
1) use a combination of Jira's native automation & a custom Confluence API call. However, you will need to invest some effort into the initial development as well as ongoing maintenance.
2) You can use any of the available apps from the marketplace. Your use case should be solvable via scripting apps. or you can use Automated release notes app for Jira that addresses this use case along with many others.
Here's how it will look like in ARN.
You will have a Confluence template created in ARN. And a rule that is triggered when a new version is created in that Jira project. Once this rule is set up & enabled, your use case is addressed without any manual intervention needed. Check a few screenshots below.
You can look at the free version of ARN as well (only available for Cloud). However, you will be restricted to 5 executions per month.
Hope that helps.
Best,
Anand
