We're really enjoying the survey-like Forms that can be used to fill out a Jira ticket. Is there a way to copy them from project-to-project either via the website or using the Jira API?
All the documentation is a little confusing because there's now two Jira products called Forms.
Hey Jonny,
The forms that you see in Jira software projects are basically a replica of the forms available in JWM (Jira Business) projects.
JSM also has forms which are different from the ones available in Jira projects. You can read more about them here:
You can copy JSM forms from one project to another, but we don't have this functionality in Jira forms.
Thanks!
Thanks Karan,
Disappointing to see that there's no functionality like this in Jira forms yet. Do you know if there are any open requests that I can add support for?
Jonathon.

Hi @Jonny !
Jira's native Forms currently doesn't offer a built-in way to copy forms between projects easily—neither through the UI nor a consistent API workflow. That’s a limitation, especially if you're building reusable forms across multiple teams.
If you're open to using an add-on, Smart Forms for Jira makes this super easy:
🔁 Forms are automatically copied with issues—so if you clone or move issues across projects, the attached forms come with them.
✍️Forms are copied in all states: drafts, submitted and new.
📥 You can also add repetitive forms manually and assign them to multiple projects using the add-on’s interface.
🔧 Forms are avalieble within all projects: JSM, JWM,JPD, so you can use the same forms anywhere needed. No need for manual rebuilds or complex API setups.
It’s a great option if your teams frequently reuse intake forms, surveys, or structured checklists across projects.
Let me know if you want help getting it set up or seeing how it works in action! 🚀
