Is it possible to create a workflow step that opens the task creation screen?

The title gives a pretty good summary. 

In short, I am trying to create a workflow such that reaching one step opens the new task creation screen. Automatically linking the ticket and the newly created one would be also nice to have, but I would like to focus on just making the transition work. Any suggestions how that could work?

Welcome to the community.

With marketplace apps to extend you workflow functions there are option to have transition create a new task, but no showing the create screen, as all information has to be given in the the function on the transition.

Or you can create an automation rule that triggers based upon a condition, but the same applies. All information for the new task has to be defined in the automation rule action, it will not open the create screen.

It is not possible to add a transition that will have the create a new task, rather an editing screen that before the transition is completed will prompt you on which fields you want to change. Once you make the changes, transition can be completed.
