Hi,

A better way is to create an issue type having the level higher than Epic itself through hierarchy. Usually we will call it an 'Initiative'.

Documentation for reference:

Hello @bartlomiej.jochym  Welcome to the community.

Jira hierarchy for Issue types starts with EPIC -> Issue ->  Sub Tasks

For Standard and Premium versions of Jira you can only have these three hierarchy and categorize your tickets.  But yet you can obviously link an EPIC with another EPIC with status like:- Relates to or you can create a new status.

However if you go to the Enterprise Plan, you can add another hierarchy level above EPIC. CUrrently Initiative is the right word that is preferred in Jira above EPIC. This was you can have Initiative -> EPIC -> Issue ->  Sub Tasks

Hope this is helpful.

I would recommend creating an issue type above an Epic in the hierarchy (like an Initiative) and adding the Parent Link field to the Epic screen to indicate that the parent of an Epic is an Initiative (or whichever issue type you created). The Parent Link field and the Epic Link field will be merged into the standalone Parent field soon (currently in beta).
