Is it possible to differentiate on the roadmap issues on the board vs the backlog

When I look at the road-map (in Next Gen), issues are marked to show which board column they are in.  The problem is that all issues on my backlog are labelled with the name of the first column on the board, which is wrong because they are not on the board.  This devalues the road-map, makes it difficult for stakeholders to understand without constantly referring back to the board, and is factually incorrect.  Is there a way to make the labelling of backlog items work correctly?

So you have Backlog as the first column, is that right? Backlog can be changed but the name of the first column can be changed. In this case, you would need to change the name of the first column. Instead of using the name Backlog, you'd need to find another name, such as To Do, Awaiting to be Triaged, etc

Hi Hazwan, Thanks for replying.

No, I have named the first column on my Kanban board as "To Do".  When I look at the road-map, all itmes in the backlog, which are not on the "To Do" column (because they are not ready) are also displayed with a label of "To Do".  Items in other columns ("In Progress", "Ready for Review", "In Review", and "Done") are correctly labelled.  It is as though there is no default status of "Backlog", so the name of the first column is being used as the default.
