Hi Guys,
My name is Brahm, I'm a product manager working in a small StartUp.
I apologize because I am a newbie in Jira, so this question could sound so basic, yet I have not found the answer through my Google search.
My Question:
Is it possible to edit the master ticket and have the clone tickets also change? So I need only to edit once and let's say 3 of the ticket clones follow? So the topic would be multiple edits by 1 edit?
Brahm
Welcome to the Community :)
You have a couple of options - I've summarised these below, let me know if one sounds the best for you and I'm happy to give specific instructions
Bulk Change:
You can bulk edit multiple issues at the same time. You'll need the Global Permission "Bulk Change" and edit permission in each project an issue lives within - and then you can bulk edit via the search page.
There are multiple different actions you can do via bulk change - see this page for a full description on how this works.
Automation for Jira:
Automation is a recent addition to all Cloud instances which is currently being rolled out - project-specific rules can be set via Project Settings, or global rules as a Jira Admin via System > Automation for Jira.
Automation allows you to automate tasks - such as copying a field value from one issue to another. There are alot of options here - see this page to learn more about how these work.
Please note, there are service limits for Automation - these are 100 automations for free Jira per month, 500 for Jira Software and 1000 per user per month for Premium for global rules, whilst project-specific rules have unlimited.
Scripting:
This is not something I have personal experience in, but I envisage it will also be possible using scripting add-ons such as Scriptrunner.
