When I am trying to make a link to already existing issues only open issues appear in a search field.
But I want to link an issue to a closed/resolved one. Is it possible?
Hi @AAntipovskiy - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Yes, you can link them. Just type in the key for the issue you want to link it to. If you have further problems, then try going the other direction - start with the completed issue and link it to the first issue.
Thanks for your reply - yes the problem is that when i am searching for an issue by text it shows only open issues by default. is there a way to modify search limitations?
The trick with linking from the closed issue to an open works fine but I am not sure that it is convenient for users.

Can you give the exact steps you are using? Because I am not having the problem with seeing Resolved issues to link to.

correct. you will need to enter the full key. for example if I wish to link to test-97 which is Done to test-96 which is open, test-97 will not show in the auto-complete results. But if I enter test-97 and complete the link it will find it.

This is one of the most annoying issues I have with Jira right now because I often link to related issues that I remember solving, since they may have information that would help solve a new similar issue. I have to go into advanced issue search to find the exact key for the issue I want to link, which is inconvenient. I would love for an option to search everything when linking issues.

Hi! Is there any view for changing this behavior?
In old JIRA (server version) search always showed all recent issues, not only open ones. Same as other people, I often link to recently resolved tasks and current way is very inconvinient :(
