Is it posisble to rename Labels once they are already in use?

A possible work around was to create a new Label with the preferred name and then to do a bulk edit of the all issues with the Old Label and 're-lable' them. The downside is that I may have issues if the tickets use a different mix of other lables. (I run the risk of nuking all other associated labels.)

Hi,
We have released Bulk Operation Enhancer For Jira plug-in in marketplace.
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/com.kostebekteknoloji.plugins.jira.jira-bulk-operation-exhancer
You could do bulk operations like additive adding, replacing and removing labels.
You could also set Resolution field with Bulk Operations.
Documentation is here: http://www.confluence.kostebekteknoloji.com/display/PLUG/Bulk+Operation+Enhancer++for+JIRA

You can also contact with info@kostebekteknoloji.com for your new bulk operation suggestions

Hmm, I'd be careful with this one. There's a Label named "Label" which is a system level field. To rename a system level field, you might want to look into customizing JIRA Text. How this affects JQL searches is an unknown to me.

For all other Labels that are custom fields, you can easily rename them under Custom Fields. Just be aware that you can make some people unhappy if they have search filters saved that use the original name.
