Is it possible to trigger a Build based on a workflow event from Jira?

We have setup a workflow that keeps track of the state of a user story an or a bug and we have statuses based on what testing environment a story is currently in. We woudl like to setup builds for each environment and trigger a build when we transistion to a new status in Jira.

We don't support this directly in Bamboo, however it looks possible todo by having a Script or Command Task that calls out to the Atlassian Command Line Interface utilities to transition the issues.
