I see the new Jira 8.0 Batch Email Notifications feature described at https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/configuring-email-notifications-938847633.html but I can't find the equivalent in Jira Cloud email settings.
Is this available in Jira Cloud? If not, any plans to make it available?
Hello Andy,
Thanks for reaching out to Atlassian Community!
The option to have batch email notification will be available soon on Jira Cloud.
We still don't have a date, but the rolling out has already started.
You can find more details on the documentation below:
- Jira emails are changing!

Angélica
Are there any news on this? Is this now fully released? If so, do we need to change any settings or will this be the default? Thanks, Rob

Hi Robert,
For Jira Cloud, it will be the default. We are rolling out this type of notification and soon all cloud instances will have it.
For Server, it's possible to enable/disable the batching notifications.

Angélica

Hi Angelica,
Many thanks for your super quick reply. Do you have and ETA on this rollout as I think it was announced in February, and there is not a lot of news since then.
Best wishes,
Rob

I sent a message to the team responsible for that to confirm when it will be implemented to all instances and as soon as I get a response, I'll let you know.

You are amazing! Thank you Angelica. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Robert,
I was able to check that instances that have Jira Service Desk received the update about batching notifications, but then it was removed.
Here is the detailed explanation for that:
As soon as an event that should send a notification was triggered, Jira would create a buffer of 3 minutes, in which all the other events that happened during that time, would be batched and sent along with the first event. While it reduces the general mail noise caused by Jira, some teams that use Jira Service Desk heavily rely on notifications in order to have their job done, and the 3 minutes delay may cause them to miss a tight SLA.
For the above reason, we've suspended the batched notifications feature for JSD users, until we workaround this scenario.
Hope this clarifies.

Angélica

Hi Angelica, thank you for your update!
However both myself and Andy were asking about Jira Cloud, without the Jira Service Desk feature?
Is the feature still being released for JC?
Best wishes,
Rob

Instances that have Jira Service Desk had the batching notification disabled until they fix the problem because notification for agents in SD should be different since they deal with SLA.
I saw your comment that it started work again on your instance, if you face any issue or if it stops working again, please let us know, then I will escalate the issue.

Hi Marco,
Batching notification should be working normally for Service Desk cloud now. Are the batching notifications working for Software and Business projects?

Angélica

Dear @Angélica Luz ,
do you have any update for server instances that have Service Desk,
will be a notification for agents in Service Desk with SLA different?
Currently, we cannot use the batching notification.
Thanks

Hi Martin,
Currently, it's not possible to batch email notifications based on SLA or priority, that's why it's complicated to use this on Service Desk. This is on our roadmap as mentioned on Batching email notifications:
We plan to:
add the possibility to create your own “batcher”. It will consume saved issue events along with your own email template that will allow to roll out your own versions of “batched” emails.

Atenciosamente,
Angélica

Has the batch notifications option been added to jira cloud yet?
It is setup for jira server here, but I want to know where I can find it for jira cloud.

Hello,
I would like to know if batched batch email notifications is a feature currently avaible in Jira Cloud. We don´t have Jira Service Desk or JSM.
Thanks in advance.
Miguel.

It's been 4 years, any word of this making it to JIRA Cloud?

Any updates on this feature? It is 2021, and the feature is still missing from the cloud version.

Hi @Angélica Luz; is there definitely going to be no way to disable this feature in Cloud? The email delays that this functionality now causes are quite the opposite of desired behaviour when it comes to support-type projects; when an update occurs, we need notifications to be sent immediately. I see this point was touched upon in terms of service desk projects above, but this is not how we're currently set up. A project-level setting would be helpful.

Hi Andrew,
Currently, it's not possible to disable. I searched for feature regarding this matter as well but didn't find anything that could help us.
Important updates regarding SLA, assignee and mentions, for example, will send a notification immediately.
Please, feel free to create a feature request on jira.atlassian.com (project JRACLOUD) adding more details about why the feature to disable batching notification is important for your environment.
The batching notification was based on the feature below where our dev team is also collecting feedback, feel free to add your comments there as well:

Has this been fixed yet? The inability to disable batched emails should be considered a blocker-level bug.

Hey @Robert Alexa thanks for the Info.
It is not the actual answer, I am not able to see Batching Email Notifications option under the settings option.
I don't know weather it is available for my version 7.11.2
Once again thanks for the reply.

Hi @Madhu Mullangi
The batching notifications are available for Server version 8.0 and above, that's why you can't see the option to enable. Once you upgrade Jira, you can follow the steps of the documentation Robert shared on his response.

Angélica

@Andy Mehalick Hey man, as of yesterday the combined notifications have started working on our Jira Cloud instance. Just wanted to update you that you should either have them, or might arrive really soon. Hope this info helps you
