Is there a way to copy the initial planned end date to end date field?

Basically, planned end date is a one time update, whereas I would like the end date value to be updated as well, during the same update.

Upon the upcoming update, I would like only the End date field to be updated, as it is a dynamic value (might be changed overtime).

Do we have such option?

You can use jira automation to do that. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you want the "End date" to be updated. Should it take the planned end date value? If yes, then:

• Go to project settings
• Automation
• Create rule
• Select trigger "On field value change" and select "Planned End Date"
• Select all operation which apply (edit, transition, create etc)
• Add new action -> Edit Issue
• Select "End Date" and "Copy value from Planned End Date"
• Save and publish
• Test it

• Go to project settings

• IF statement "Planned End Date is EMPTY"
  • Add new action -> Edit Issue
  • Select "End Date" and "Copy value from End Date"
• Save and publish
• Test it

I would also remove the "Planned End Date" from the edit screen, so just no one can change it.

Basically, I would like that upon updating the end date, the planned end date will be updated as well, one time. And from that point onward, that only the end date will be updated, once I change this value, and the planned end date to be fixed with the original end date (as this is eventually a baseline field).
