Is there a way to expedite JIRA OnDemand export process

Leif Nelson April 19, 2012

Atlassian states that a JIRA OnDemand export will require up to 2 week turnaround time (http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/About+Your+Data). Are there any factors that determine how long this takes? For instance, if the amount of data is relatively small (small number of projects, no attachments, etc) is it possible for the export to take place more quickly?

Hi Leif,

The amount of data has almost no bearing on how long it takes us to perform the export. Exports will usually take a solid hour or two for an engineer and we therefore having a waiting list. Typically the only way for it to happen sooner would be to jump the queue, which isn't fair to the other customers waiting.

If you have special circumstances where it is imperative to obtain the export sooner, talk to a support engineer and they will investigate whether there are any other options.

Obviously a system like this doesn't scale too well, so we've been working on a self-service exporter/backup manager which will no longer require support engineer intervention or queues. This will be available in a number of weeks.
