I have created a Jira project (kanban) that I would like to use to manage and track high-level activities for several large projects. (The actual work will be tracked in team-focused projects elsewhere in Jira).
I took the approach of creating a version for each large project. I then created epics for the high-level phases of the project and assigned the epics to a version.
So far so good...
The only thing I'm bumping on is that the Board is looking very busy. I would love to be able to filter the issues by version but I don't see a way to accomplish this.
Interestingly, the Roadmap does have a filter by version.
Any suggestions or is this not possible?
Thanks!
just to double-check, do I understand correctly that you're looking for a Board visualisation of your issues? In this case, to the best of my knowledge, this isn't currently possible in team-managed projects.
If you'd be open to other kinds of issue views, you may want to have a look at JXL in the Atlassian Marketplace. It's a spreadsheet view for you issues that works with company- and team-managed projects, and allows quick filtering for all standard Jira fields as well as all custom fields.
Your interaction could look e.g. like this:
I'm looking to filter the board view by Fix Version, just like I can filter by Label or Epic.
Thank you for the suggestion.

@Phil McTimoney Did you find a way to do this? or a feature request that is relevant, I'm looking for the same thing.
On the Kanban board today, I can filter by Epic, Label, and Type. I just want to see a Release filter right next to those.

Found one - I'm hopeful this one will address our needs.
