Hey Samantha,

Currently on Cloud, you can get a notification/activity stream at start.atlassian.com - click on the bell icon on the lefthand bar to see your notifications:

This includes additional activity besides just @mentions - as you can see in my example, it also brings in Likes. This works across Jira and Confluence to give you one place to see mentions. You can click the blue dot on the right to mark the notification as read, or if you hover over a particular item you can also clear it:
