Hi,
I am cloning an issue for my team and the Figma design has already been attached to the story but once I clone, the design isn't cloned and I have to manually copy and paste the design to the new cloned issue.
Is there a way around this and if not, is there a way to add an automation such that once an issue is cloned, the Figma design link should be copied from the trigger issue and pasted on the cloned issue?
Thanks.
Hello @Boluwatife Adewole
I understand correctly, you’re trying to copy a Figma design link from one issue to another, right? In that case, I can suggest trying our app Elements Copy & Sync that allows you to clone and sync a full hierarchy of issues with all their content (summary, description, custom fields, comments, attachments, etc).
You can check the guide here.
The app is for free during 30 days (and it stays free under 10 users).
First thing, I am not using Figma and thus my suggestions are based on what I know about automation rules. So please test anything suggested. With that out of the way...
I did not find any suggestions in the public backlog to add Figma (or other design tools) information for cloning. And the built-in automation templates do not cover the scenario you describe.
The design smart value for the URL is {{design.url}} as described here: https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/jira-smart-values-design/
You could try setting that value using advanced edit with JSON for the field: https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/advanced-field-editing-using-json/
But first, I recommend using this how-to article to determine it those fields can be set in a rule: https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/find-the-smart-value-for-a-field/
Kind regards,
Bill
