Hi Everyone,

I'm coming from the world of VersionOne and need some guidance on how to do some of the same things in Jira.

What am I trying to accomplish?

  • As a Scrum Master, I need the ability to generate and visualize graphs such as Cycle Time Scatterplot, Cycle Time Histograms, & run Monte Carlo simulations to provide stastically backed data on forecasting when our project will be done. To do this, I use a tool called ActionableAgile.

What do I need to do to accomplish this?

  • I need the ability to export a CSV file however, I'm missing the following data points:
    • Issue Active Start Day/Time
    • Issue Resolution Day/Time

Does anyone know how I can pull these two fields from Jira?

What I've discovered so far...

  • Under "All reports," click on "Version Report."
  • Select your desired Version.
  • Click on the "View xyz version in Issue Navigator."
  • There are a few filters at the top
    • In my Jira instance, I thought I could use "Active Start Time" however, this field isn't a system field and it doesn't autopopulate so it's blank. You can select a number of other fields to add to the report and then click on "Export."
    • You have a bunch of options on the type of file you'd like to generate with the Export and boom, you get a file.

Hi Nahush,

Sorry for the late response but ActionableAgile is available for Jira. It’s on the Atlassian Marketplace at https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1216661/actionableagile-for-jira-agile-metrics?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Disclosure: 55 Degrees develops and maintains ActionableAgile.

Hi,

Jira by default provides "created" and "resolved" date time. There are also timestamps logged in history with each status change.

What criteria would you use to determine "Issue Active Start Day/Time"?

Issue Resolution Day/Time can be determined via the "Resolution date" field, which is auto-populated, whenever an issue is resolved.

- If "Issue Active Start Day/Time" is something that is based on a logic and cannot be mapped to a field inside Jira, you may need a third party app to get that information.

- Jira export is limited to 1000 issues only. In order to circumvent that limitation also, you may need a third party app.

We provide such a reporting app on the marketplace: AIO Reports and Timesheets for Jira

Once you provide exact logic behind "Issue Active Start Day/Time" value, we may be able to provide a way to get this done via Jira or our app.

Hi @Navarambh Software - Gmail

Thank you for your reply.

Logic behind "Issue Active Start Day/Time."

  • The date when a team member changes an Issue's "Status" from "Open" to "In Progress"
    • This is when we actively start working on the Issue
    • Till this point, it could be sitting in the backlog for days, weeks or even months

Hi @Nahush Gupte

Using add-on Issue History you can view the time when each issue went to each status and how made it. This plugin shows all changes that happened in the issue list you need.

Hope it will be useful for you
