Issue with optional items in Checklist field

We have a licensed installation of the checklist plugin and have found the optional items not to function as indicated in "help".  According to help, optional items should appear italicized and do not.

Hi Jason,

The optional items will be italicized only if you configured to field to do so. By default, optional items are not italicized. To turn the configuration on, read the Configuring a Checklist help topic. You want to enable the Emphasize Mandatory Items option.
