Hi ,

I am planning to create a dashboard for the backlog user story and I want to have the user story with creation date and status. Let me know which dashboard gadget will be helpful in this. We are using company managed JIRA currently.

Thanks in advance.

Hey @Debanjan Banerjee

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The board backlog shows the Status of the stories, and you can configure the card layout

to show the creation date as well.

If you have a specific requirement to create a dashboard apart from the existing project board, you can consider the 'Filter Results' gadget where you can select the filter of your choice and fields like Assignee, Status, Creation Date, Priority etc to display it in a table format.

Thanks!

Welcome to the community, @Debanjan Banerjee.

As the others mentioned, the Filter Results gadget would work fine. Here's how it looks, when you configure the columns to show the Status and Created Date. filter-results.png

If you need some advanced features, e.g. filtering this gadget dynamically or summing up number fields, you can check out Quick Filters for Jira Dashbords (I am the product manager of this app), or test it on our demo dashboards.

Hi @Debanjan Banerjee ! 👋

I’m Javier Coira, and I help build Dashboard Hub, an app designed to enhance reporting and dashboards in Jira.

As Karan mentioned, the Filter Results gadget is a great native option if you want a simple issue list filtered by JQL with standard fields like Status and Created Date.

That said, if you’re looking for more flexibility or a visual upgrade, Dashboard Hub offers gadgets like Jira Custom Charts, which let you:

✅ Show issues in a table format (very similar to Filter Results) but with more visual control

✅ Select which fields to show (e.g. Created, Status, Summary, Assignee)

✅ Filter using JQL, just like in the native gadgets

✅ Switch to a visual chart (bar, pie, time series) anytime with the same configuration

🔍 Here’s a live example of a dashboard that shows stories in table view and other visual formats:

📸 A couple of screenshots to illustrate what’s possible:

➡️ In slide 4, you’ll see different ways to visualize your backlog data: as a list, pie chart, or grouped bars. Switching between these is super simple. You can define the issues to display using an existing Jira filter or by writing a custom JQL query.

➡️ In slide 2, you’ll also find examples of Formula Cards and a Cycle Time for Stories chart — great if you want to calculate metrics like average delivery time or totals based on custom logic.
