Hi @Someswara Kudumala   👋
Welcome to the Community!

As mentioned by @Eduardo , you can't accomplish this using Jira's built-in solution.

If you consider installing third-party add-ons to help, try out Time In Status add-on.

You can easily get Dashboard that shows how long has an issue lying with this status (right gadget) and how long has an issue lying with this Assignee (left gadget)

You can also book a live demo - we'll show you the application inside out and answer all your questions. Add-on developed by my team.

I hope you find this helpful 🚀

Hello @Someswara Kudumala ,

Welcome to the community!

As @Eduardo  states above there is no built in solution in Jira for this. So in order to track the time spent on each status & each assignee I suggest you use a marketplace app. Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira ,the oldest and leading "Time in Status" app in Atlassian Marketplace, which is developed by my team at OBSS, has several report types that will meet your need.  Our app is available for both Jira Cloud, and Data Center.

Timepiece mainly allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status or each assignee

Status Duration report which shows how much time each issue spent on each status.

Status Duration in Days.png

Assignee Duration report which shows how much time each assignee spent on each issue.

assignee duration.pngIf you want a combination of these two you can use Assignee Duration per Status or Status Duration per Assignee reports.

he app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well.

Timepiece reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs

Visit Timepiece - Time in Status for Jira to experience the full range of features.

If you wish, you can also schedule a live demo. We will provide a comprehensive overview of the application and address any inquiries you may have.

Hope it helps,

Gizem

Hi @Someswara Kudumala

Welcome to the Atlassian Community !!

You can use Jira Rest API's to pull this data from issue changelogs. Or You can create your own custom fields and apply Jira automation to populate those. Another option could be to use Jira Control Chart which helps visualize the average data for one issue or a cluster of issues via dots on the chart Y.

Alternatively if you are open to try a mktplace app, pls do take a look at

Time in Status Reports

With this app you generate time in status and time with assignees reports with multiple filter and grouping options. With the ability to export to a csv file as well for further analysis as shown below. The reports can be added as a dashboard gadget too.

Also the app has many reports to meet a variety of time in status use cases.

More details here.

Disclaimer : I work for the vendor who built this app

Thank you very much for the suggestion.

In my previous project 4 years back I was using 2-dimensional gadgets for the total day of a particular issue. I barely remember that I had created a JQL and the same JQL favorites helped me to generate a 2-dimensional gadget. Can you please suggest any JQL that produces a time difference?

Please have a look at this thread for JQL. Not sure if it will solve the purpose.

Jira doesn't natively provide a way to track how long an issue has stayed in a specific status or with an assignee, but several plugins can help you achieve this.

Recommended Plugins:

These add-ons let you create gadgets for your dashboards to visually display how long issues have been with an assignee or in a specific status.

Hi @Someswara Kudumala,

This is not possible at the JQL level. And, as far as I know, Jira does not provide a native gadget for "time in status" or "time with assignee".

You could search on Atlassian Marketplace for an app that provides this type of gadgets.

If you consider the idea of using an app, our Great Gadgets app can be helpful. It provides two gadgets that displays the issue age and time in status.

WIP Aging Chart gadget - this gadget display the to-do and -in-progress issues by their age (time in its current status, or time since creation, etc configurable at your choice).

If you hover an issue, it will display the age in a tooltip.

Time in Status gadget - this gadget can calculate how long the issues stayed in each status.

It can group the data by Assignee.

These gadgets offers also a Data tab with detailed info about each issue, which you can easily export in CSV.
