It may be related to this closed Bug (which has been deemed working as intended)...

It appears as though it automatically moves the Dashboard to the Trash if the original Owner/Creator is deactivated or removed from JIRA (even though the Dashboard permissions allow for other Viewer/Editors).

The Workaround is to Restore the Dashboard and assign a new Owner.

Hello,

This also happened to us - we had a lot of dashboards get deleted overnight. The users who do have access haven't deleted them. Please help.

Hi @Naomi Schwaiger , as Nic suggested if you take a look in the System Audit log if it is enabled (you will need to be at least a Jira admin to find this) this might tell you what has happened to the dashboard if it has been deleted.

If not, then it might be permission related - has any Jira or System admin made any changes to any permissions over the last couple of days? Perhaps the Dashboard's sharing settings have been changed by the Owner?

Jira has no code to delete a dashboard "automatically".

If a dashboard disappears, then either the permission for you to see it has been removed, or it has been deleted.  In both cases, a human has to do that (although it could be scripted, by one of your administrators)

Ask the owners of the board and your admins where it has gone.  Deletes of dashboards are logged in the admin audit log if it is enabled, so you might find a clue there.

Hi @Aditya Singh  , welcome to the community!

I don't think the dashboards will be getting deleted from the system, it is more likely something to do with the dashboard permissions. By default when a dashboard is created, it is made private so that only the creator can view it.

If this is a case, you can follow these steps to share a dashboard that you have created:

  1. Choose Dashboards > View all dashboards.
  2. Locate your dashboard and click more (•••) > Edit and share dashboard.
  3. Add the users/groups/project roles you wish, and make sure to click Add, and then click Save.
