I am having this same issue, the jiraconnectuser was not created, I manually created it but this does not seem to help. What do I need to do in order to have this user created?

That will be very helpful.

Thanks Nick,

Good to hear Tuan. I will try and update the jira plugin to avoid this in the future.

Or at least to print a more descriptive error message.

Cheers,

Nick

Hi Nick,

I solved the problem. It turns out I have to add jiraconnectuser into the project that I want to enable JIRA Connect. I do this by go to Administration area --> <MY Project> --> People, then add jiraconnectuser into the project.

Cheers,

Tuan.

Hi Tuan,

You don't need to create a new user. The jiraconnectuser (Remote Mobile User) should already exist in your instance.

For some reason however, that user does not have the 'Create Issue' permission.

Can you please add the Create Issue permission for that user in the Permission Scheme for your project and let us know if that fixes this error.

UPDATE: Please ensure that user is in the jira-users group.

Cheers,

Nick

Hi Nick,

I have the same issues as iMackoy. Here is my log when I run it in simulator:

[JMCTransportOperation connection:didFailWithError:] Request failed: Error occurred while creating issue through workflow: User 'jiraconnectuser' doesn't have the 'Create Issue' permission URL: http://jira.niceagency.co.uk:8080/rest/jconnect/1.0/issue/create?project=JIRACONNECTTEST&apikey=c5f9414c-18b7-4bb2-92c6-974f04a331f9, response code: 401

Do I need to create a new user in "jiraconnectuser". I tried to create a new user on JIRA under that name, however JIRA ask me to provide password for that user, on iOS project where should I assign the user's details.

Cheers,

Tuan.

Hi iMackoy,

Are you testing this in the simulator ? If so, you should see some log messages in the logs as to why the request is failing.

JMC queues any messages that fail to send (due to a server issue, or if the user has no connectivity) and tries sending these at a later time.

Some things to check:

  • The JIRA Mobile Connect plugin is enabled in the JIRA server see here: jira_settings.png
  • The JIRA instance can be reached from your phone

I would check the logs to begin with however. Let me know how you go.

Cheers,

Nick

Hi iMackoy,

Are you able to run your App in the simulator ? JMC will log messages when the DEBUG flag is defined.

If you wish to enable JMC logging in your app on the device, then remove the if/else here, and just pass the log message through to NSLog directly: https://bitbucket.org/atlassian/jiraconnect-ios/src/fc3c729f37e4/JIRAConnect/JMCClasses/JMCMacros.h#cl-25

Or, when you build for the device, ensure the DEBUG flag is set in Xcode.

Cheers,

Nick
