Hello all
I am posting this as a question rather than as a support request since our Support expired 3 days ago.
We use JIRA 7.4 and wish to move to JIRA cloud.
I understand that we need to internally upgrade to 7.10 Server and then migrate to Cloud.
These are my questions :
a. We use the SAML SSO plug-in to integrate with our Active Directory. This plug-in is not supported on Cloud. Our IT manager says Atlassian has native SSO support for JIRA Cloud. Is this correct? We are willing to live without SSO.
b. We use SQL Server 2012 DB as our DB. This document only describes PostgreSQL and MySQL. Where can I find specific instructions for MS SQL ?
https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/migrating-from-jira-server-to-jira-cloud-779160826.html
c. Also, I read that to upgrade from 7.4 to 7.10 we would need to renew our support subscription. Is this correct?
Many thanks
Hi,
for a), have a look at the Identity Manager (https://de.atlassian.com/enterprise/cloud/identity-manager )
for b) I'm sorry, I have no idea
for c) David is right, you may install the latest version that was released before your maintenance expires, so if 7.10 was already released, everything is fine.
You could try the wordaround with an evaluation license, but might check with Atlassian Support, if that is fine for them.

On point (c) My understanding is, but I could be incorrect, that you're entitled to use the last version of Jira Server released before your maintenance expired, which would be 7.10.0. The license is perpetual for valid versions.
Probably the safest route would be to export from your 7.4 and try importing that into a new 7.10 install. You could just put an eval license on the 7.10 install and use 7.10.1, if you intend to move out again to cloud. But, I'd suggest 7.10.0, since I don't know if the eval license will allow you to export again.
