JIRA studio hosted + bitbucket

Artyom Bondartsov August 14, 2011

I'm trying out JIRA Studio hosted. However we use bitbucket.

Is there a way to get FishEye working with bitbucket repositories, still staying on a hosted solution?

Otherwise please suggest the best ans simplest way to pair JIRA (crusible, bamboo) with bitbucket.

Hey guys.

Sorry for the conflicting messages.

We can't tell you exactly when/if we will have Fisheye-Bitbucket support in Studio because our internal roadmaps are constantly changing.

I can say that there are some big changes coming by the end of the year, and that Fisheye integration with Bitbucket in Studio may be part of the process. It is a highly requested piece of integration, so of course we would like to get it implemented at some point in the future.

Please! Please! Please!

Could you please make a decision about Github and Bitbucket and stay with that decision? The message above mentions that it is not on the roadmap. A few month earlier the Product Manager Michael Knighten told us that all will be set up and done end of 2011 (https://studio.atlassian.com/browse/JST-2090).

I was asking for a new status in the issue several times, but haven't got an answer so far. Could you please let your users know what we can expect Atlassian to do with the number 1 feature request, that is open for more than a year now?

Thanks

Can somebody please clarify the complete confusion:

https://studio.atlassian.com/browse/JST-2090?focusedCommentId=46858&page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel#comment-46858

This is a meesage by Michael Knighten, which is the responsible Producmanager for Jira Studio? He said, that Github support, which somebody from Atlassian said is the absolute same thing as bitbucket support, will probably be integrated into JIRA Studio until end of 2011. Now it's maybe not happening.

Sorry. But what is wrong with you people. Can you please make a decision and stay with it? The number one users feature request is open for more than a year now and you are chaning mind every 2nd month.

If that what happens while using JIRA I should rethink my choice.

Thanks,

Tobias

Artyom,

While FishEye integration with BitBucket is not available, please see how to integrate JIRA with it: http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRASTUDIO/Integrating+Bitbucket+with+JIRA+Studio

Thanks, Luzia. This was already done. But it's not so much in handy if one still cannot setup a bitbucket repository for bamboo and crusible

I got the following response from an Atlassian sales rep while inquiring about Bitbucket support in Jira Studio:

No problem - I'm happy to answer any questions. (I assume that Danny's questions are about JIRA Studio):

  1. Can we setup using Fisheye/Crucible with Bitbucket repositories? If so, how? If not, then is it expected, and when?

At the moment, Fisheye/Crucible cannot integrate with Bitbucket repositories. Studio integration with Bitbucket is achieved through JIRA/Bitbucket Integration. I don't think we will have full-fledged integration with Fisheye/Crucible and Bitbucket in Studio anytime soon.

  2. Will we have the option of choosing a different fully integrated SCM system, so that when we click the "Source" tab we see our Bitbucket repos rather than an unused SVN repo?

I'm afraid that the bundled SVN repository is the only SCM system that will work with Studio, as far as clicking the "Source" tab and seeing related changes. The integration with Bitbucket and JIRA is done in a very similar way though - a Bitbucket tab will be available as well as the "Source" tab.

  3. How can we completely disable the auto creation of an SVN repo if we so desire, given that we don't use it?

The SVN repository is included by default in every Studio instance. THere are no rules about using it though - you are free to never touch it and we won't complain.

Let me know if I can help with anything else for your evaluations!

So given that response, am I to assume that we shouldn't expect a DVCS with bells and whistles like the SVN repo has? Seems like a conflicting statement to everything I have read from you guys between June-Aug... Also the "add a custom tab next to the Source tab" is pretty silly as it just sends you to the bitbucket page. Would be nice to have an embedded version of the repo like the SVN is when you click Source.
