Yes this is exactly what I would like to do. However we are using Jira 3.13 do you think I can do this in our version or do we need to update ?

Try adding a portlet to your dashboard - there's been a "2d filter report" thingy in Jira since at least 3.4 and probably 3.0.3 (but it's so long ago, my memory is failing)
