Jira / Active Directory Integration/Sync

Deleted user June 4, 2018

I have been tasked with setting up integration with Active Directory for our Atlassian products (Jira & Bitbucket)
I have read through the documentation to set up groups and copy to Jira on first login etc. However I have been trying to find information on if its possible to merge current users/tickets etc. with their active directory login.
I am looking for clarity before implenting to make sure that we do not lose data, or people are unable to view previous assigned tickets/projects etc. If this has to be manual then this is no problem.

  • Firstly, i propose that you  have a test environment and  perform test  there
  • Secondly it's possible, i believe you  will  have both Jira internal directory and   active directory server,  in your active directory server,  you  will  need to  have a container that  have  let say  user jira_user and  this user must be present  in  jira internal directory( as mapping is done by  username) during  syncro  you  are able to  preserve all user data in jira, but for  user's to  log in to JIRA they  need   Active directory credentials.

I hope  this helps.

Best!

Thanks @Moses Thomas, I will look to spin up a test environement and test this out to see if data is preserved before rolling this out to live
