Hello @Jordan
As @Trudy Claspill mentioned, what are you trying to track? What could cause the fail of the automation? What kind of conditions have to the issues meet?
Tom
If you are looking to get an email when an automation rule fails you would select that option under rule details and chose whether the email goes to the owner or the someone else.
Additionally, it does appear that you get an email when some errors occur as well, because I received an email for this automation that only had some errors, though it had me log into the system.
As far as I am aware there is currently no way to modify the automated email that is sent out letting the rule owner know that the rule failed. But when you click into the audit log you can see the details as to why it failed or in this case, what failed.

Hello @Jordan
What sort of failure are you trying to track?
If the rule itself fails with an error that sets the status to "Some errors", there is an option on the Rule Details page you can use to send an email in that case.
If you want to get emails for issues that fail to meet a Condition in the rule after the rule has been triggered, then you would have to add another condition to the rule that the issues would meet, and use that to trigger sending an email.

The rule details section helps sometimes, but this particular automation has a few hundred tickets its cyphering through and when it shows tickets that errored it doesn't give the reason for each ticket. I would like for there to be an email sent for any issues that were associated with the error of the particular automation if that makes sense

Can you share with us the rule you have constructed?
The option on the Rule Details page (shown in first image in @Collista Lewingdon 's Answer) will send an email based on the Status of the execution (shown in the second image) . I know it will send an email for "Some Errors", which is a yellow status. I'm not sure if it sends email for all yellow statuses, or for the gray status. I assume it would send an email for the red status.
I have seen rule executions where the Status is one of the green statuses, but when I looked at the details of the individual execution of the rule I saw a detail that I considered to be an "error" but Jira did not. Not all errors at the rule step level will cause the rule overall to error or fail.
And I concur with Collista that it is not possible to modify the automated email sent when a rule fails, to include more details about the failure. You have to examine the Audit Log for the rule execution to get that information.
