Did you mean:

Sprint Appears in other project's Backlog screen showing no Issues.

Moses Lim Him Kuong September 11, 2018

Some context to the question:

I have 2 project namely:

1. Project A

2. Project B

Both are using Scrum. And both team have with own board. So we had done sprint planning and started the sprint.

1. Sprint A (5 issues) from Project A

2. Sprint B (10 issues) from Project B

For Project A backlog, it shows:

Sprint A (5 issues)

For Project B backlog, it shows:

Sprint A (0 Issues)

Sprint B (10 Issues)

Hi @Moses Lim Him Kuong

This usually occurs if an issue from Project B was added to Sprint A. This is from from the Jira UI, where you have the field Sprint. This field shows all Sprints regardless of the board the issue belongs to.

The reason you may not see any issues of Sprint A in Board B is due to either,

  • you do not have browse project permission for Project A or
  • that the board filter removes out issues from other projects other than Project B

To verify this, go to Jira's Issue Navigator and search for Sprint = Sprint A. This should show you all the issues under this sprint. Check if you see issues from projects other than Project A. Note that you should have to have Browse Project permission for issues in Project B to view those issues from the Issue Navigator.

Firstly,

I'm the Site Admin so I can see everything.

This just pops up suddenly, I check there isn't any thing my sprint and there isn't any ticket added to that sprint from other project. The empty sprint just pop up suddenly. I need to know how to remove it. I had check whether its the same sprint for both project, it seem list it is cause I try edit the name and both side change.

Is there any patching happening over the course of this few days that might cause possible problem like such.

To clarify, being an admin doesn't necessitates that the admin will have browse user permission to all projects. They can configure all projects to view the issues in them. Therefore you may want to double check on this.

Secondly, this issue is only known to occur as explained previously. Therefore to remove the sprint from the second board, we need to first identify the issue that has been added to the sprint. This issue is further explained in the following KB: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/sprints-shared-between-multiple-boards-779159068.html. Can you confirm that when you search for Sprint = Sprint A in the issue navigator you would only see the 5 issues from Project A?

Good idea,

I found the problem using that filter, but the best part is i have a ticket that is in Sprint A but not for Project A or B, but for another project which isn't even a scrum project. I check the board the filter is correct as well it's not filter to include Project C but it showing in Project B board but for Project A Sprint.

I had removed it but the empty sprint for Sprint A still show in Sprint B
