I am looking for assistance in how to share one release (versions) across multiple projects in Jira.
I would like to suggest another alternative which can solve your problem, hope it will some your problem and improve a few more related areas.
We have created a Release management add-on for Jira data centre and Jira cloud which helps to create cross-project versions in Jira. It also can help to synchronize versions between multiple projects and compose packages of multiple versions.
Out of the box, there are a few more handy features, such as:
Hope it will help you to automate daily release routines.
Thanks,
Yuri
as John said you can't create cross-project releases in Jira. The only solution, for now, is to maintain versions manually in multiple projects or use a Jira app to do this for you.
I wrote a post about this topic a few months back, you can have a look here: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Marketplace-Apps-Integrations/How-to-share-releases-between-projects-with-Cross-project/ba-p/1354688
I hope this helps :)

Hi Stacie - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
This is currently not possible as Releases are created per project. You could create a release in each project with the exact same name. But they won't be truly shared.
