Jira Cloud for Excel - compliance questions

Hi, I got some questions back regarding compliance for using this add on. I was hoping someone might know and answer or two, because I am at a loss.

1. How does the connection between Office 365 and Jira get established?
2. Will the Add-In consume any Office 365 pemissions?
3. Is this a persistent connection?
4. Does the connection require use of the Graph API?
5. Does it work with multiple instances of Jira?
6. Does it work with installed instances of Jira?

Any help or if someone can point me in the right direction is appreciated.

The Excel exporter app, Better Excel Exporter's cloud version will soon be released and currently, I'm looking for early access program participants with real-world use cases for Excel exporting and reporting from Jira.

It won't be a Microsoft Excel add-in, but a native Jira Cloud app, promising reliability, no dependency on Microsoft's infrastructure, more exportable data, templating/scripting, and more.

2. The app needs permissions to read and make changes
3. What do you mean by "persistent"?
4. No, but the app might
5. What do you mean by "multiple instances"?
6. What do you mean by "installed instances"?  All Jira instances have to be installed, they can't run if they're not there

I was honestly relaying the questions I got from my compliance guy, I feel somewhat better that not only I was confused. I just thought I didn't speak the lingo. 

Your responses for 1-4 are great and I will ask the guy to clarify.
